Empowering Women Through Connection, Creativity and Confidence:
Between September and December 2025, our women’s programme delivered a dynamic and forceful season of activities designed to connect, engage, and empower women from across our community. Built around the principles of inclusion, growth, and mutual support, the programme created safe and welcoming spaces where women could develop new skills, strengthen confidence, and form meaningful friendships.
At the heart of the programme was a commitment to empowerment through participation. Many women arrived feeling isolated, uncertain, or disconnected. Over the weeks, those same women became active contributors, confident learners, and supportive peers to one another. The programme offered a powerful blend of creativity, practical skill-building, and personal development, ensuring that every participant could find a pathway that resonated with her interests and goals.
Creativity flourished through our four-week Art Group, which encouraged participants to explore self-expression while learning new techniques. Each week focused on a different creative discipline, including painting, pencil art, mosaic, and cross stitch. The sessions were designed to be accessible to all, regardless of previous experience, and quickly became a highlight of the programme.
Confidence and independence were further strengthened through the popular Ladies DIY Build-Her Up project, which ran for two weeks. This hands-on initiative opened doors for women to learn basic DIY and practical skills in a safe, encouraging space. Participants gained experience in tasks that many had previously felt were “not for them,” from simple repairs to practical problem-solving.
Mental wellbeing was a key focus throughout the next ten week programme, supported by the delivery of a CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) Skills course. These sessions introduced participants to core CBT principles, helping them understand the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. Women learned practical tools to manage stress, challenge negative thinking patterns, and build healthier coping strategies. Rounding off the programme was the Winter Wellness project, which focused on holistic approaches to health and wellbeing. These sessions introduced participants to the benefits of aromatherapy and reflexology, offering practical insight into how natural therapies can support both physical and emotional wellbeing. Women learned how essential oils can help regulate the nervous system, reduce stress and anxiety, and support everyday health concerns such as aches and pains, colds, bloating, and constipation.
This programme stands as a powerful example of what can be achieved when women are given the space, support, and opportunity to grow.
